What is a "Longest Text Ever"?

A Longest Text Ever (commonly abbreviated to 'LTE') is a specific genre of writing that has the end goal of making the finished piece as long as possible. These are commonly written and publicized on websites, more specifically on free website hosting platforms such as Neocities, rather than on traditional pencil and paper due to it being more efficient and giving the writer the ability to personalize their website to better suit their interests/personality.

An LTE's ranking on the list provided on this website is determined by how many characters that are present in their LTE. This statistic is typically shown by LTE writers as an achievement to show how far they've gotten in the constant battle to write the longest text ever. However, there are some rules that LTEs have to follow to be considered "true" LTEs. Being a true LTE just means that your LTE is eligible to be listed on this site.

Said rules include...

1. Do not copy entire LTEs and pose it as your own.

2. Do not spam large amounts of random characters.

3. Try not to copy and paste large amounts of text often.

These rules are put in place because I personally think that the purpose of LTEs is not just to spam a bunch of characters or copy and paste the same phrase over and over just for the purpose of making it long. If that were the case, then this website would have literally no reason to exist. I think that writing an LTE can be a unique way to write about yourself or the events that happen in your life as compared to just making it a basic blog. Of course, if you do want to make a blog, then go for it! I'm not trying to make it seem like making a blog over an LTE is bad or anything. ill work on this later lol
